Evotrope / Mobile Art

The EVOTROPE is a mobile, interactive art experience with a mission to bring social, environmental and political ideas to festivals and urban environments.

Inspired by 19th century early animation contraptions like the Zoetrope and the Phenakistoscope, the EVOTROPE’S styling and its spinning blades animate with the use of my free, modern-day app called ilumiscope during the day and a hand-held-stroboscope at night. Created to generate public discourse, the EVOTROPE is human powered and meanders through urban and festival environments, piquing curiosity and compelling its audience to participate.
